5 reasons why you should invest in your digital marketing in 2023

OK, we know that we’re already half-way through January, but it’s never too late to make resolutions, and we also know (because you’ve told us) that many of you ‘have been meaning to take a look’ at your digital marketing strategy but haven’t been able to get round to it for one reason or another. What if we told you that making a thorough assessment of your current digital marketing strategy is one of the best things you could do for your business going into 2023?

  1. One of our client’s most common complaints is about creaking, out-of-date websites. While it may not be on top of everyone’s to-do list, in 2023, it’s time to make it a priority. Your website is your shop window – and would you want to walk into a shop whose window was covered in dust and cobwebs? We didn’t think so, and neither will your customers want to investigate your company further if your website is the digital equivalent of dust and cobwebs. A striking, attractive website that is easy to navigate and optimised for search engines can give your company a boost, attracting more potential customers and increasing the chance that they will become actual customers. According to analysis, 76% of people search online before making purchases so you need to be easy to reach, and easy to buy from.
  2. Once you have a beautiful website that is a dream to navigate, you need to make sure people want to stay to read about your industry, company and/ or products. Great content can engage and retain your audience, either written content such as blog posts or guides, or increasingly, video clips to establish a connection with your audience. Use social media to promote your content, drive further traffic to your website and increase the chance of sales conversions. With engaging, authoritative text, images or video, you raise the possibility that your audience will return to see what’s new. It keeps your website from seeming stale and out-of-date and can reassure potential customers that the lights are still on and they can trust you will respond to their questions.
  3. We’ve already touched on this, however, social media is crucial to a digital marketing strategy. Social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and increasingly, TikTok, can be extremely effective in increasing brand awareness and engaging your audience. You don’t have to be on all platforms, however, choose which you think suits your audience best and stick with it. Consistency is key: sporadic, half-hearted posts are almost worse than none at all, so make sure you have a strategy planned out from the start. The great thing is that these platforms also provide analysis and insights so you have data to hand to see whether your efforts are working or not and can tweak your strategy accordingly.

SEO may seem like witchcraft, however, the theory is simple – optimising your website so that it is highly visible in Google when people search for your products increases the number of potential customers who can see your company online. Ensuring your website is attractive and user-friendly, using keywords in text and linking to other sites are among the methods of achieving this.
  5. While SEO is vital, it’s an organic method of attracting traffic to your site. PPC, or Pay Per Click, campaigns can do the same job but much quicker. Google AdWords, Facebook Ads and Instagram Ads allow you to target very specific audiences, if necessary, and again, analysis tools ensure your ads are effective so you can makes tweaks where necessary.
