United Nationalities of Marbella Summit
For the third year running, Nicole King of Mi Marbella TV, has brought together a gathering of Marbella residents and businesspeople to discuss important issues that affect those who are lucky enough to call Marbella their home. Held at the new Velvet restaurant in Aloha, the main take-away message from the event was that we need to communicate more, work together and be involved in events, charities and good initiatives in an effort to resolve issues that affect the community in general.
From encouraging us to join in with organised litter collection walks to helping the elderly, spreading the word and supporting local charities to finding things for the youth of Marbella to do, Nicole acts as a bridge between the town hall and foreign community of Marbella. Present at the summit were the British Consul to Málaga, Charmaine Arbouin and head of Marbella Foreign Residents Department, Oti García, as well as representatives of several Marbella associations and business clubs.
A couple of the schemes already in place and enjoying success are ZeroHero where selected Marbella restaurants and bars have signed up to offer soft drinks free of charge to a designated driver in a group of four or more, and a Linea Directa initiative to provide personal breathaliser kits to Marbella venues so that you can check your alcohol level before driving home.
Representing Manifesto Design at the event was business director Jackie Stone and digital marketing guru Paul Lopez, who as members of the media fully support Nicole in her desire to open up dialogue and set up a support network in Marbella. Manifesto will be spreading the word about charitable and good initiatives, both online via blogs and social media, as well as offering free profiles on the recently launched Guide to San Pedro Alcántara website.
Marbella covers a stretch of 27 kilometres, which is home to around 137 different nationalities. If we all work together with Nicole at the helm, we can make Marbella an even better place in which to live.
