The Jacksons – performing live in Marbella!
Puente Romano in Marbella has been hosting memorable concerts of famous artists and bands for years. It’s the place where all of us can soak up the atmosphere of great music and simply enjoy every second of it. And next year in August, Rock Lounge and Puente Romano will host an amazing concert, a truly spectacular phenomenon of pop music – The Jacksons.
Their performance in Marbella forms part of a concert programme to celebrate the life of Michel Jackson and 10 years since the King of Pop’s death, as well as the 50th anniversary of The Jacksons.
The Jacksons
The Jacksons (originally The Jackson 5 or Jackson Five) were formed in 1964 in Gary, Indiana, as a family band. The founding members were elder brother Jackie, Tito and Jermaine, younger brothers Marlon and Michael joined the band soon after its formation, but it was only in 1967 that they entered the professional music world. From the early days this band was a phenomenon, it was the first band of black Americans to reach number one on the Hot 100 consecutively four times with the songs ‘I Want You Back’, ‘ABC’, ‘The Love You Save’ and ‘I’ll Be There’.
The band had plenty of success in the early years, but after Michael’s leaving to pursue a successful solo career, their popularity declined and finally in 1989 they stopped performing. However, the success they had enjoyed allowed them to be included into The Rock&Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and The Vocal Group Hall Of Fame in 1999.
The Jacksons reunited in 2001 for Michael’s 30 year anniversary as a solo artist and all six brothers performed together at Madison Square Garden. In 2009 the band started planning a return to the big stage and even discussed with Michael the chance of joining him on his planned tour for 2009-2010. But as we know it never happened. In June 2009 Michael passed away. Later the same year the remaining Jacksons recorded background vocals for his unreleased song ‘This Is It’. And from then on they have carried the memory of their beloved brother by playing all the hits that made them and him famous in the pop music world.
The Jackson’s combination of extraordinary musical talent and choreography has earned the family the status of pop royalty in the music world, and now we have a unique chance to see them performing live for us in Marbella. The original members Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Marlon Jackson will perform on the centre court of the Hotel Puente Romano Tennis Club on Thursday 8th of August at 21:00hrs.
