What are the newly launched Google Discovery Ads?
Google is constantly finding new ways for brands and advertisers to reach and engage with new audiences around the world, and already offers a number of different ways to place your business in front of paid audiences, from simple search-based Google AdWords to Display and Video content across many different platforms.
Now Google has added another vertical to their growing portfolio of products with the global roll out of Google Discovery Ads. Although this has been available in some areas for about a year now, it has finally been tested sufficiently with verified success, in order for it to be offered globally to all advertisers that meet the relevant criteria.
How do Google Discovery Ads work?
Google Discovery Ads campaigns allow you the ability to place your brand’s ‘story’ in front of a huge number of people across the various Google feeds when they’re open to discovering new products and services.
The expanded reach of these campaigns lets you engage with audiences across the YouTube Home and Watch Next feeds, Google Discover (in the Google Search App), and the Gmail Promotions and Social tabs using a single campaign.
These new ads allow you to combine rich, relevant and engaging creative assets to visually inspire your potential customers. The campaigns combine customer intent in order to help showcase your brand to the right audience.
There are certain criteria that need to be in place for this type of advertising, which is why you should be relying on your Digital Marketing Agency to advise on what you need to do or have in place in order to utilise this new advertising feature.
This requires a specific type of Google tracking code / analytics code in order to run the campaigns and you have to comply to personalised advertising policy guidelines.
Some of the options available for the targeting of these campaigns include:
- Customer Intent
- Remarketing
- In-Market
You should also activate the new Google Signals option within your analytics to improve your Google Advertising targeting and tracking.
