Manifesto Design: A perfect internship for marketing and advertising students
Internships are the best way for students to learn about a profession they hope to achieve in the future. For a marketing and advertising student like myself, I wanted to immerse myself in content creation, branding and digital marketing, among others. I instantly knew that Manifesto Design in Marbella, Spain, is a perfect fit for me because their passion for excellence, creativity and story-telling is aligned with who I was, who I am, and who I hope to be.
Who I was
One of the most lasting memories I have of my childhood is when family and friends asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I always responded that I wanted to become an “author.” My most prized possessions then (and now) were not toys but books. I would always ask my father to take us to the local bookstore after church on Sundays, so that I would have a new story to read for the week. I love reading a good story because it gives me surprising insight into humanity (fiction is my genre of choice). Back then I sincerely hoped that I would one day write something that will not only entertain but also inspire audiences.
Who I am
I come from a legacy of bankers. My parents were in the industry for over 40 years and both my brother and sister work in banking as well, but that doesn’t mean that joining the industry was forced on me. It was my choice and I was convinced that this lucrative industry would have a place for people who enjoyed writing like I do. I think people usually associate banking with a lot of maths (true to some extent) but there are key areas where they actually need good writers because, at the end of the day, putting banking products, processes and people together for clients, shareholders and regulators is a lot like coming up with a good story.
Who I hope to be
Conversations with close friends nowadays are riddled with jokes about not making plans for the future because COVID-19 taught us how life can be very short and highly unpredictable. While this is true, moving forward I would like to focus on one thing that has been consistent in me: creating ‘stories’ that both inform and inspire.
I have only just begun my internship at Manifesto Design and already I feel very much fulfilled.
I am certainly able to use my writing skills to good use for clients who are the best in their respective fields of business and I am truly inspired by how Manifesto Design demonstrates its excellence, efficiency, positivity and kindness to all the individuals and companies they work with.
